Founding President

The ducks of the world are better off because of Nick.

Nicholas E. Oglesby, Jr.

Age 77, of Avalon, NJ and Wilmington, DE. Mr. Oglesby died Sunday October 24, 1999 in Christiana Hospital. Loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alma; his 2 sons, Nicholas E. III and Thomas Dove; his 3 daughters, The Rev. Patricia A. Oglesby, Louise O. Weiner and Laura O. Gehman; and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. John T. Oglesby, II.
Nick was born in Lynchburg, VA and raised in Troy, NY. He attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA and graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor's and master's degree in Chemical Engineering and from George Washington University Law School. During World War II, he served in the Navy in the Pacific Theatre as a Lieutenant (jg) commander of an LCI(G).

He was a partner in the law firm of Connolly, Bove, Lodge and Hutz. After his retirement from the firm in 1983, his interests turned towards environmental causes, mainly the Wetlands Institute of Stone Harbor, NJ, the Wings and Water Festival and the Federal Duck Stamp program.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 4900 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Wetlands Institute, Stone Harbor, NJ 08247 or the American Red Cross, 100 W. 10th Street, Suite 501, Wilmington, DE 19801-1678.
